Problems starting server: Source exited immediately after startup

Question:

When I attempt to start a stream, Centova Cast displays:

Stream could not be started: Source exited immediately after startup

Answer:

This error indicates that Centova Cast was able to execute your streaming source software (sc_trans2, ices-cc, etc.) however shortly after starting up, it exited unexpectedly.
