Will the new release have any scheduling enhancements for those of us who want to run news on the hour (for example)?  At the moment, the minimum repeat is daily.

It'd just need the Interval playlist to add a fixed start time or the Scheduled playlist to have some shorter options ("Hourly" etc).

Not substantially, no.  The v3.0 release does include a ton of new features, as everyone will find out in a very short while, but the core focus for v3 was a change in architecture that will open up a lot of new options for us in v3 and up, vs. the v2.x design.  (v3.0 is a standalone software package, and doesn't depend on any pre-existing software on your machine such as Apache/etc.)

That said, we'll be making some minor improvements to the playlist scheduling system in the v3.0 series, and some major ones in the v3.1 release, and your request here is among them.

you mentioned elsewhere to support liquidsoap as a source, there is a quickly developed open source radio software project called airtime/openbroadcast which might be of some use here.

Hi guys, I am evaluating Centova for my business and will have a few things I would like to ask. One thing is about scheduling.

the details state:

"Centova Cast supports multiple playlists for each stream. Each playlist can be configured individually to control precisely how and when it will be played -- at a specific time...."

so this means date / time as opposed to between 8am and 12pm every day ? I would like to see a feature whereby I can set out playlists to play at different times of the day just like pre recorded radio shows. It would also be good if that could be set either to the stream server's time, or to the local time of the local computer receiving the stream. In this way, if you had a morning show. it would only play in the morning where ever the receiver of the stream was.

Where I am coming from and developing maybe different to others but this is quite a key part of my business. I have had the above developed in a Flash player app but as part of my expansion I am hoping to get as much of the features of the app within a better platform for servicing my clients.


Also, the Airtime app demo looks like it has a lot of the schedule features that I see not just me asking for. How could this work with Centova Cast? That would make a lot of sense to a lot of people.

I agree with the Scheduling.  In fact here is my situation...We have a radio station with 5 schedule Playlists. Mondays the station playlist Classic Salsa, Tuesdays New Salsa Artists, Wednesdays International Salsa Artist etc.  We created each playlist under the Scheduled type.  The Interval Playlist does not work when a Schedule Playlist is active.  It only works with the General Rotation Playlist.  We must play commercials for every 5 tracks played on our station seven days a week.  The only way to do this is with the Interval Playlist however the Interval Playlist does not work with a Scheduled Playlist.

We need a feature that can allow the Interval Playlist to remain active and do not interrupt even with a scheduled playlist is the active playlist.

Any idea will this be part of the new release?
