We're looking into the idea of adding a plugin system to make it easy to add new providers in addition to Amazon. I'm not sure of the viability of iTunes as I don't think they provide a "proper" API that includes all of the info and search capabilities we need to automatically identify cover images and buy-now links, but we'll be sure to check it out in detail when the time comes.
