Having issues setting up Auto DJ.

Read 7604 times

Hi got Centovacast working. Streams are working.

But trying to get FTP, Auto DJ and that to work so people can upload mp3's is a pain and
instructions are not that clear and straight forward.

If anyone can help point me in the right direction, that would be awesome.

Darren
Hello Darrenc,

The installation manual on section 2 contains all the necessary instructions, however they are meant as reference to a qualified system administrators.

If you're not familiar with the linux shell, you could potentially break something else on your server if you attempt to do it yourself. Thus we strongly recommend that you ask your system administrator or service provider to do this for you.

That said, if you are learning and you have a safe enviroment like a testing server, then follow this steps.

1.- Recollect the necessary data about your server.

- Identify your linux distribution and ftp server
- do you even have ftp server installed?  if not, PureFTPD is recommended.
- do you have cpanel/plesk or similar installed?

2.- Find the corresponding setting instructions on the manual.

- go to http://www.centova.com/docs/cast/centovacast_install_guide.php?manual=1#2_FTP_Server_Integration
- find the subsection that matches your ftp server

3.- Decide which kind of integration you need Mysql or dump file.

- if you have a vanilla server then go with PureFtpd and MySQL integration
- if you have cpanel/plesk you'll need to set up the dump file method.

4.- Understanding the instructions.

- familiarize yourself with the linux directory structure and basic commands
- find your FTP server documentation and read the relevant chapters (installation, configuration, and MySql or external authentication settings ).

Hope this helps.
