Title: authentication error - cant create accounts - cant add host successfully
Post by: greatmen on January 04, 2012, 09:08:28 pm
i like the whole new concept of centova 3.0, specially the standalone feature, so you dont need to install anything else but a mysql server. I'm definitively gonna get a license when the stable release comes out.

ive been looking at it since some months aggo, when i started to manage a small icecast vps, so decided to try it now, and request a trial license...

i prepared a centos vps, installed all it need (icecast, mysql, etc), and put centova on it, but i cant make it work, after putting all together and log in to my centova web, i get stuck here:

image 1: when i try to create account this error came up.

image 2: looking up here i think that isnt my licence, right?

image 3: i add host with this settings but...

image 4: authentication error - cant add host successfully...

so maybe im doing something wrong, or anything... any help will be appreciated, and ill try to help back every-time i can.

after add my host on the management section and put the license key on the Authentication key, and 127.0.0.1 on the ip address, and leaving the port on 2198... i check on the system status section always say authentication failure, so i cant try it...

hope can get some help...

Sorry Greatmen, v3 has been like that for nearly a year, which is why nobody is using it yet.

so you can't even add the server to the web interface the same server? i mean can't they communicate the web interface and the control daemon on the same machine? :-[

I'm sure they have disabled it for a reason, you should give the older version a try, they just came out with a update a few weeks ago http://www.centova.com/pages/news/articleid/41 and it seems to run well so far.

maybe i should but as you might know icecast is a very low resource consumer and even a cheap/small vps if the bandwidth is good enough can be used to stream, so i was planing to give it a try and for a cheap/small vps the perfect solution seem to be icecast 3.0 cause of his standalone feature, i mean you don't want a lot of unneeded daemons (apache) on a cheap/small vps, don't you?...

thanks for your help, ill keep looking at this forum and maybe controlling my icecast manually until the stable 3.0 come out...

Greatman the current version works with Icecast and works well, I've seen others post about problems with their Centova Cast with Icecast server but I think that as long as you have enough resources (good size VPS or Dedicated), you would be fine, we do not have any Icecast problems and it uses the same auto dj type (ices_cc) as SHOUTcast server (by default). The good thing about Icecast is the way DJ's can connect to the stream, and Icecast will detect this and automatically switch from auto dj to live broadcast (using mountpoints) -- it is a great selling feature and works for our clients with zero problems.

yeah, i really love icecast for that reason mountpoints..., and much more... and yeah, esactly, my problem its all about saving resources, thats why i rather wait for the stable centova 3.0.
