As a non-tech, I want to better understand this (http://www.centova.com/en/cast/requirements)...
-----------------
For most stream hosts, the autoDJ is the primary bottleneck on the server. If you are using realtime media re-encoding (virtually all stream hosts do), your autoDJs will use a significant amount of CPU time.
-----------------
If the Centova AutoDJ is used, with all media files appropriately pre-encoded (correct bit rate and sample rate), and crossfading isn't used - does this impose extra load, or simply 'pass through'?
-
sc_trans2 and Liquidsoap will re-encode even if your tracks are already at the correct bitrate/samplerate/channels
Only ices-cc gives you the option to turn re-encoding off

Ah, ok.
Thanks.
