Title: Icecast and Opus
Post by: Mark Carney on August 08, 2014, 08:48:28 am
I have today updated to Centova Cast v3.1.0 however I am still showing Icecast 2.3.99.5 as my running version, is there any current time-frame for the implementation of Icecast 2.4.x as part of its core so that we can utilise Opus .

Thanks

Added earlier today -- "/usr/local/centovacast/sbin/update icecast" to install 2.4.0.

I try this and get the following

[root@stream1 ~]# /usr/local/centovacast/sbin/update icecast

Checking Centova Cast Common Files ...
Not updated, skipping

Checking IceCast ...
Not updated, skipping

[root@stream1 ~]# icecast -v
Icecast 2.3.2
[root@stream1 ~]#

How do I get to v2.4.0?

Thanks

To get technical, Centova Cast isn't really involved in supporting Opus.  But Centova Cast does support IceCast v2.4.0 and Liquidsoap, both of which DO support Opus.  So in a roundabout way, yes. :)  But we can't really take the credit.

[root@stream1 ~]# icecast -v
Icecast 2.3.2
Could be any number of things -- most likely though, you have 2.3.2 installed alongside 2.4.0.  What does "/usr/local/icecast/bin/icecast -v" display?  If it shows 2.4.0, then you're using 2.4.0 in Centova Cast.
