Title: Strange limit in Shoutcast
Post by: copycat on September 13, 2012, 12:29:12 am
We noticed strange things on our Shoutcast accounts inside centova.

We can never have more than 1020 listeners per account. After 1020 listeners new users cant connect to this stream.

We have dedicated 1Gige port so it should not be problem due to low bandwidth.

Our peak never go beyond 500 Mbps

We have set limit on 3000 listeners on this account but maximum we can get is 1020

Do you have any idea what could be a problem?

Hello copycat,

This is a limitation of your operating system which is set to allow a maximum of 1024 connections per user.

I did a quick search for you and found this topic at shoutcast forums: http://forums.winamp.com/showthread.php?t=335233

Basicly you have two choices, either you find a way to increase the connections limit per user or you run Shoutcast as root (the latest been the least advisable).

hope this helps.

You mean the shoutcast server?

You probably do have to restart shoutcast.

Make sure you've done this right for your specific distribution. If you're not sure consult with your system administrator.

If the problem persist then either you're doing something wrong or something in your OS is not working as it should.
