Title: Shoutcast transcode at lower bitrate ?
Post by: JohnnyBeGood on July 09, 2013, 08:31:19 pm
Hi all,

I'm renting a dedicated Debian server.
Just got a new mobile phone and I really like to listen to my favorite online radio's (total of 3).
Now the idea is to relay those streams with lower quality (24kbps) and listen it with my mobile phone (android).
The reason why i would like to make the online radio stream with lower quality, is because I'm having just 4GB of internet on my mobile phone and at 128kbps it goes pretty fast.

Would Centova Cast work for me or is there any other solutions?

TIA

If your music source is sctransv2 on the server (AutoDj) create another mount at a lower rate... 8)

Here is the example of one of 128kbit streams http://goo.gl/lFggS
Will that still work?

that's a Shoutcast v1 station. You would need to use either Shoutcast v2 or Icecast if you want to achieve this easily
