Title: Can DJ accounts be made without using source password?
Post by: AquarianDee on May 25, 2015, 09:24:10 am
Hey

I am having a problem setting up DJ's for my station. I want to set them up using a unique password to them and not use the source password incase, in the future, they have to leave the station!

I'm using BUTT and set up a dummy account with the DJ's name and password using a colon (:) in between as stated under Live Source Connections. However, they were unable to connect using this format but once they put in the source password, they could connect! Also, when I went to disable the account once they had the source password in Butt, they could still connect! After the account was set up, the server was restarted but couldn't disable the account. Anyway, when I was on a radio station, we all had our own passwords to use and not the source password, so how do I get around this PLEASE?!?!

OK, so what I'm looking for is, in simple terms is how can we get around using unique passwords instead of the source password? I know it can be done but HOW?

I've figured out what the problem was - I have Centova Cast 3.2.0 and it's using Shoutcast v1 which doesn't support setting up a DJ account using their own unique password. It only works on  Shoutcast v2, so waiting for the upgrade now.

It really pays to read and read until you find the answers. Not bad for a woman, eh ;)

Grrrrrr this thing is getting on my last nerve now. I have now got Centova Cast 3 with shoutcast v2 so I could set up dj's with their own individual passwords but there isn't the facility to do this!!!! I DON'T want to give DJ's the stream password so they can connect in case in the future, have to kick them off and they'll still be able to connect, even if the account is disabled!!!

Someone please help me or my project is down the drain after a lot of hard work

I assume that you purchased services from "My Auto DJ" after he plugged his services, shouldn't you go to them for support ?

This feature works, we use it all the time.
