Title: Audio problems
Post by: qnn on April 05, 2013, 09:48:02 am
Thanks for sharing this tip. The update fixed the problems we had early with the interface. We're able to even connect to the server, but there is no sound while streaming. Thoughts?

FYI to all, I've modified the latest build of Centova Cast to set SHOUTcast DNAS 2 servers to "private" by default during account creation.  Nobody seems to understand the authhash system implemented by AOL/Nullsoft in DNAS2, so this should hopefully ease the setup process and eliminate the "mysterious lack of audio" problem that it causes for everyone.

The process is pretty simple by what they say. I've not implemented it yet as I'm waiting for the client to respond. It appears you log into your admin area and request the info. It's then supposed to update the configuration file.

Once I test this out with the client so we can put in the info he wants I'll update with what I find.

There is a slight problem quoted below from DrO's post on the winamp forum

"the 467 error code is due to a validation issue in the public v2 DNAS build (fixed internally but a new release is a while off) with the handling of certain characters which slipped through testing that causes the response before being passed to the YP servers getting mangled in some scenarios (mainly from genre's with / or - in them)."

If the info isn't just right it will create the 467 error, (the genre I chose cause this error and per DrO I had to pick a different genre and then he altered it)

After that it went smoothly and the Authhash key is now active and the user will be able to stream with the public option. I'll be waiting an hour or so to have him switch so hopefully thats a smooth transition.

The following link is the page I found the answer about the 467 error. I would scroll to the bottom of the post as there were some "stupid" posts from "stupid" people on there..lol
