Title: HTML5 Player
Post by: mholinka on February 04, 2013, 06:45:32 am
Hi,

are there any inentions to bundle a HTML-5 Webplayer to centova, like the well known jPlayer?
jPlayer has a flashfallback and it would be great to have a html-5 player especially for mobile devices.

cheers,
Marcus

Not well-known enough, apparently -- or perhaps I've been living under a rock. ;)

YES. Definitely.

You realize that this thread is almost a year old and that jPlayer support was added last year, yes?

So are you saying that the player on the  CentovaCast Start Page we have, is an html 5 player? It sure would be nice to have if it isn't.

Yup, both Jplayer and Muses are HTML5 players.

Well the problem is with your centova host as the Muses is html5 beta as muses hosted - even though looks like failing / cutting a lot compared with the Jplayer. The point is that Host srevers use commonly uses player because actually offer support to ogg, mp3 and aac and Jplayer just play your html5 capabilities per browser/system. So feel free to try Jplayer by yourself but don't forget that most browsers just will play mp3 and aac just for OS devices if no problem... don't forget mobile don't accept auto-start!!! And to use Jplayer with MP3 - quality x kbytes stream is high as aac is very low to acceptable quality.... well muses give you setup at: https://www.muses.org/setup and Jplayer at: http://jplayer.org/latest/demo-08/
